My Story

I was born at Hierro De La Pluma, a breeding stable in Costa Rica. I received my “Green Card”, Pura Raza Espanola Registration on May 17, 2003. Then I was bought and sold several times with some harsh treatment along the way ending up in Los Angeles in 2013. This is when I was purchased by Billy from the Rancho Uva Blanka stable in American Canyon, CA. Even though I was malnourished, Billy understood my breeding qualifications and took a chance on me. Now, I was being given better care and Billy started teaching me to dance. I started putting on weight and progressed with my dancing but I knew I could do better and Billy knew it too.

On November 15, 2013, Billy offered me to George and Nancy. George has been ranching all his life and knew horses but never dancing horses. He had seen me dance at Uva Blanka once before and understood my potential so he and Nancy became my new owners.

Soon, I received a clean bill of health and George and Nancy wanted me to move back to Napa to be in a stable near them. They hadn’t told me that they had been looking to find a ranch where I could live and train closer to their home but they eventually found such a place. They then asked David if he and his family would like to move to this ranch with me. He said yes and we all moved to Napa in August of 2014. I like it here so much better than Hollister. The weather is cooler, the stalls are nicer and it is such a beautiful place for me to perform. I suppose the best part, however, is my owners have named my new home and their stable after me, Rancho Centurion!

Now I help to make people smile and perform at charity events and even in commercials and music videos!

Billy told George and Nancy that he had taken my training as far as he could go and suggested that we find a trainer who could bring out all I had to offer and suggested David. David had trained horses all his life and at this time was training horses in Hollister, CA. David is well respected by his peers as a trainer and David agreed to take me on. This, of course, meant that I would be moving to Hollister for further training but I wouldn’t mind if I would be treated better than I had been in the past. So, in January of 2014 I moved to Hollister and started my training with David.

I liked training with David and we have developed a great relationship. From time to time, George and Nancy would drive from Napa to see me. I would always be ready with a new trick that David had taught me when they came. First they saw me sit like a dog. Then I learned to lie down and would let David lie next to me. I would even let him wrap my legs around him; we developed that much trust in each other. The next time they came, I bowed to them to show my appreciation. Meanwhile, I was learning to shake my ass like no other! David and I had a real relationship going and my owners were very pleased with my progress. But then after things were going so well, I started to lose weight and it was discovered that one of my molars had abscessed. A veterinarian was called in and it was determined that I would be required to have my tooth extracted. Ouch!! But this wasn’t all bad because I was now was able to have some time off from work even though the vet would come probing around in my mouth to make sure the packing was still in place and would then give me some antibiotics to make sure no infection returned.
